This blend has been renamed the “Wind and Water Blend” from it’s previous name, “Community Blend”, in celebration of the life of our previous Roastmaster, Paul Helbert, who worked for LRC way back in the very beginning of our business and later lost his battle to cancer. This was Paul’s favorite blend of all that he ever roasted for LRC, and we’ve taken his love of water and boating to rename this delicious blend in honor of his amazingly rich life.
This is a blend of South American and Indonesian coffees roasted to a medium-dark level and producing an incredible cup of coffee. Wind and Water is a blend rich in chocolatey notes throughout the cup, with some hints of nuts as it cools. It is charged with deep, rich flavor and is a coffee that is easy to sip and savor slowly.
Paul’s life was also rich and full of family and friends, and it was spent on the water and building small, personal watercraft as often as he could. That’s one of his own creations in the photo we’ve used for the label. Paul helped us get LRC off the ground and started, and we hope you’ll raise your cup to him as often as we do.

Wind & Water blend and Blue Ridge Breakfast blend are two of my favorite coffees from Lucas. I always keep both on hand. Both are medium roasts with great flavor. I am going to use this review to also review the Toddy cold brew system (which can be found in the store here under “Brewing Equipment”).I have completed my first batch of cold brew coffee using the Toddy system and Wind & Water blend coffee, both from Lucas Roasting Company. I prepared a hot cup of coffee and a glass of iced coffee (OK, I got a nice coffee buzz going right now!) My impression: The iced coffee is EXCELLENT! This is why the Toddy system was created in my opinion. The hot coffee was good but I prefer my hot coffee made my traditional way, in the Chemex pour-over. By my unsophisticated palate, I think I miss the acidity created by hot brewing that the Toddy system eliminates. Still, I give the Toddy 5 stars, simply because the iced coffee is so good.

A wonderful full flavored coffee with the smokiness of a dark coffee yet it is smooth with no bitter after taste. Love it!
